TIPS & TRICKS: “NEW” PAINTING

Art never needs to match or coordinate with the room its in. Sometimes its best when it doesn’t.

But…there are times when it just no longer works. This project had a decorative giclee the homeowner no longer loved, instead of donating or selling it we opted to give it a new life and new home in the dining room. We loved the composition, it was the palette we wished were less yellow and more berry and moss.

We selected acrylic paints in our new palette and simply painted over the areas we we wanted to change using impasto (thick) strokes. Did we stay precisely inside the previous strokes? No, but it works for us!

Is this something you’ll try?
