Drenched in Teal

Is it possible to make a dramatic change while keeping most of the room the same? It’s possible if you have several good foundation pieces to start with and a client that trusts you.

We wanted to create more drama, reduce the “coldness”, and make it the sort of space that invited you to linger over conversation in. We drenched it in teal surfaces including the ceiling to bring out the magnificent chandelier which brought in the drama. But that wasn’t enough for us so we added to the height of the space by increasing the size of the artwork and creating a high contrast group of vases to the top of the hutch.

The artwork going from prints to textured paintings helped with softening the space as did editing out most of the mirrored and chrome decor. Including replacing a glass centerpiece with one of our bespoke wooden sculptures. And finally we traded out the matching arm chairs with our Charleston host chairs in a decadent emerald green, a nod to the adjacent lounge we had previously designed.

The best compliment of all was hearing people thought the chandelier was new when it had been there for years. Mission Accomplished.
