Ecru Dining

What has become a large dining room was once a family room with adjoining breakfast area. Something was off though, the only other dining space in the house was a small formal at the front of the home. Meanwhile we had walked past 2 formal living rooms. For us the focus shouldn’t be on doing the family room and breakfast nook but instead flipping them.

We proposed a bit of “musical chairs” where the family space would become an oversized breakfast area, the cramped breakfast area would become a conversation area, and the central living room would become the family great room. They put their trust in us and in addition to the original refresh they were after they got more table space for entertaining and what they now tell us is their favorite place to sit…the little conversation area between the kitchen and the back door.
